GENOA PUBLIC LIBRARY DISTRICT ANNOUNCES TRUSTEE OPENINGS FOR ELECTION IN THE 2025 CONSOLIDATED ELECTION

The Genoa Public Library District announces (2) full six- year terms and (2) four-year unexpired year term positions open for election to the Genoa Public Library District Board of Trustees during the April 1, 2025 Consolidated Election.  Candidates must be:  registered voters who have resided within the boundaries of the Genoa Public Library District for at least one year at the time of filing nomination papers; not in arrears in the payment of a tax or other indebtedness due to the library district; or have been convicted of an infamous crime, bribery, perjury, or other felony.  Candidate information and form packets are available at the Genoa Public Library District, 240 W. Main Street, Genoa, IL.

The first date to circulate nomination petitions to be a candidate for a Library Trustee position on the Genoa Public Library District Board of Trustees is Tuesday, August 20, 2024.  A minimum of sixteen (16) signatures by eligible registered voters are required on the petition in order to get one’s name on the election ballot.  Candidates must file completed forms and petitions at the library during the filing period beginning November 12, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. through November 18, 2024 at 5:00 p.m.

Important dates to remember:

Aug. 20, 2024:  First day to circulate petitions

Nov. 12-18, 2024:  Filing period for candidates seeking election.  Must be returned in person, according to filing instructions.  Electronic submissions will not be accepted.

Apr. 1, 2025:  Voting for the consolidated election
